Peter was born in a Morrison air-raid shelter (two
days after Coventry was levelled) at Splott, Cardiff; his father was a lyrical
Tenor and his mother a brilliant pianist. He studied at Llandaff Cathedral under
Kenneth Turner and Robert Joyce, and gained his Associate of the Royal College
of Organists in 1972.
He taught music for over 29 years in schools, some of which including Hindu,
Sikh and Muslim children. He has been Church Organist and Choirmaster for 58
years, and composed music for worship. Peter was concert Organist at Darlaston
Town Hall for 11 years, and is currently Organist and Choirmaster at Saint Hilary's
Church, Killay, and at Saint Martin's Church, Dunvant. He is Vice-Chairman of
Swansea Organ Association, and Committee Member of RSCM West Wales.
Peter has conducted several Oratorios and G&S Operettas. He was joint Founder
of Rugby (Warwickshire) Operatic Society and Teifi Chamber Orchestra in Ceredigion.
Peter directs The Allsorts Singers at Bettws Ifan, and sings Bass in the Saint
Cledwyn's Singers, Efailwen. Has recently agreed to accompany 'The Wizard of Oz'
in home village of Cilgerran, near Cardigan.
Peter has brought up three families of youngsters over 47 years, and is grandfather
to 3 children. Although he has an Eminent Two-Manual and Pedal Electronic Organ,
a Knight Upright Piano, a kit Harpsichord, a Morley Clavichord, and a Yamaha
Electronic Keyboard in his Music Room, his retirement project is to restore
a Pipe Organ in the Stable at the rear of Ty Llew, Cilgerran.
